The Modern Quilt Guild has a challenge going to make an item out of the Madrona Road collection by Violet Craft for Michael Miller. Our Santa Barbara Modern Quilt Guild requested a packet of the fabric but didn’t receive it until AFTER our December meeting. Our January meeting was delayed due to a scheduling conflict so the individuals that wanted to participate in the challenge ( including me) received our fat eighths of fabric on Januray 15th. The deadline for the challenge is January 31st! YIKES!
I’m determined to complete this WIP by the deadline. I’m nearly there and here are some of the photos in progress. I will blog more details about the design process once I complete the quilt.
I mixed the Madrona Road with some Essex Linen I purchased at SuperBuzzy. The rules allowed adding solid or more of the same collection. I’m nearly finished with the quilting – I’m practicing my free motion skills with a bit of straight line quilting mixed in. Stay tuned for the finished quilt!
I’m linking to Fabric Tuesday, WIP Wednesday and Sew Darn Crafty.
Thanks for checking in!

I’m loving your challenge piece!!! It’s fantastic.
Madrona Road was my first designer fabric I purchased so it will always have a special place in my heart. Work quickly to meet that deadline, nearly there! Looking very modern so far!
I like the addition of linen to your quilt. Can’t wait to see how you quilt it.
Irelle it is looking fantastic! I just finished my mini this past week, glad to have that deadline done!
I saw yours on both your blog and the Modern Guild. Nice job!
Good job! You do have a tight deadline, but if you are anything like me – you will thrive under the pressure! Can’t wait to see it finished!
