As an avid quilter, I am happy to donate my quilting skills to benefit my grandchildren’s elementary school.
Dominic’s kindergarten class asked me to make a twin size quilt with matching pillow sham and banner for the upcoming Hoedown Auction which is their school’s largest fundraising event.
I used my “Anna Quilt” pattern that will be available on my blog soon. The fabric collection is by Riley Blake and is called Pirates by Emily Taylor. The school mascot is a pirate and I used one of the school tee shirts as the center of one of the blocks. The pirate theme fabric bordered by the solid red, grey, black, light blue and cream make a great quilt for a little boy. The matching sham and banner will be a great addition to the pirate decor.
The auction is always a very popular event and raises much needed funds for the school. Last year I made a “Hoedown” theme quilt for Isabella’s second grade class. Each child traced their hand on a piece of paper which I transferred to fabric and appliqued on muslin. The borders and other images reflected the Hoedown Theme and the quilt raised the most money in last year’s auction.
We all have high hopes for the Pirate Quilt in this year’s auction. We chose to do a quilt that would appeal to the entire school instead of just the members of Dominic’s class. I think almost any boy would like a pirate quilt on their bed.

Thanks for checking in.

That’s so awesome! I’d love to see the pattern, I think it would work great for a t-shirt quilt. Good luck on the auction!
I adore this pattern. I can’t wait to buy it once you finish getting it published. <3
