I made it to Austin, Tx and QuiltCon! I have been looking forward to this adventure for months and I know it will not disappoint.
I arrived Tuesday evening and I knew I was in the “Musical Capital” when I got to the baggage claim area filled with giant art inspired guitars.
I was a vounteer all day Wednesday helping with setup. I worked with Jacquie Gehring in the exhibit hall in the show area. My tasks included hanging and straightening quilts, sewing sleeves for Denise Schmidt’s quilts, making pole casings for the Best in Show Quilts and a final trip through the show de-linting and straightening the quilts. Here are a few of the quilts that caught my eye.
I’m taking a class today called Building Bridges – Architecture Inspired Patchwork with Jacquie Gehring and then on Thursday I am a workshop voluteer for the day.
Check in again for more wonderful quilts from QuiltCon including the charity quilts made by the Modern Guilds all over the country for the Austin Children’s Hospital.
Thanks for checking in!
Irelle

Thanks so much for my first peek at QuiltCon Irelle! I so wish I was sitting in Jacquie’s class along with you… You are going to have a blast, and meet so many of the quilters who inspire me tremendously. Enjoy every minute!
I’m looking forward to hearing about your experience. I hope I can go, some day.
